Ad account and payment method
The ad account is where your ads live and where Meta charges for them. Without a payment method Meta will not publish a single ad — not even one Pilgud built for you.
- Cost:
- Creating the account and adding a payment method are free. You pay only for ads that actually run.
- Time:
- 5–10 minutes.
Steps
- 01
Open your portfolio settings
In Meta Business Suite open Settings, then Accounts → Ad accounts on the left.
- 02
Create a new ad account
Click + Add and choose Create a new ad account.

Name, time zone and currency — carefully
Name the account and choose your currency (EUR in the eurozone) and your own time zone. A new account defaults to Pacific time — change it. Click Next.

Who it is for
Choose My business if you advertise your own company. Agree to the terms and click Create ad account.
- 05
Add a payment method
Click Add payment info. If you skipped it, it is under Billing & payments → Payment settings (or Payment methods with several accounts) → Add payment method. Choose a method and follow the steps.

Watch out
- Time zone and currency cannot simply be changed later: changing them closes the account and Meta creates a new one. Get them right now.
- An ad account created in a portfolio stays there for good — it cannot be deleted or moved.
- A new portfolio can create only one ad account at first.
- Which payment methods are offered in your country, Meta shows you itself — we could not check the list in Meta's help.
